Sarcoma Foundation of America Awards
Honoring those driving progress for people impacted by sarcoma and making a difference in the sarcoma community, the evening program includes presentations of SFA’s five international awards. These awards are the highest honor SFA bestows and recognize outstanding and inspirational leaders who are championing better treatments and outcomes for people with sarcoma.
SFA Courage Award
The SFA Courage Award honors individuals who illustrate outstanding commitment to sarcoma advocacy through their personal efforts and actions. Honorees include patients, survivors, care partners, and advocates who have demonstrated strength and perseverance throughout their personal experience with a sarcoma journey. By using their voices and platforms to raise awareness, these individuals are making a meaningful difference for sarcoma patients, survivors, their families, and the sarcoma community.

Honoring the memory and legacy of Amira Yunis, a powerful sarcoma advocate, SFA Board Member and Stand Up to Sarcoma Co-Chair, SFA established the Amira Yunis Courage Award in 2022. The award honors patients who illustrate outstanding leadership in sarcoma advocacy through their personal efforts and actions, and who represent Amira’s spirit, commitment to changing the sarcoma landscape, and enduring courage she displayed during her own sarcoma journey.

Compassionate Care Award
The Compassionate Care Award recognizes a patient/nurse navigator (clinical/nurse, community health worker, social worker in the role of a navigator) for their outstanding contributions to patient care. Navigators play an important role in the sarcoma journey, assisting patients from diagnosis to survivorship, helping them understand their condition and treatments; coordinate care among medical specialists; and connect them to community resources to overcome barriers to care. They play a vital role in supporting psychosocial needs; financial concerns; relationships; and mental and emotional health.
